Summary:

He is her husband. She is his captive. Her husband calls her Jane. That is not her name. She lives in a small farm cottage, surrounded by vast, open fields. Everywhere she looks, there is space. But she is trapped. No one knows how she got to the UK: no one knows she is there. Visitors rarely come to the farm; if they do, she is never seen. Her husband records her every movement during the day. If he doesn't like what he sees, she is punished. For a long time, escape seemed impossible. But now, something has changed. She has a reason to live and a reason to fight. Now, she is watching him and waiting.

Verdict:

This book amazed me from the first page. The author draws you in from the opening line and the intrigue continues throughout. In parts it has harrowing imagery, where the writer creates a scene cunningly with use of words & actions. It deals with the topic of human trafficking very successfully in such a way as to believe that this kind of thing can very easily happen unknow to residence of anywhere. It is just a nice size book for a quick read .This was my first book by this author, whom I have met at Listowel Writers week in the past ,but defiantly not my last as I love his style of writing, so I must read some more by Will Dean.
